At Ohio Online Learning Day 2026, families, educators, and school leaders gathered at the Ohio Statehouse to advocate for a simple but important idea: students need learning options that fit their lives.
For OHDELA, that mission has been clear since 2005.
As one of Ohio’s leading statewide online schools, OHDELA has served more than 30,000 students and families over the past two decades. Today, the school continues to support students across Ohio with a flexible K–12 model that helps learners succeed academically while meeting the realities of family life, health needs, safety concerns, and prior school challenges.
The results matter. Over the past three years, OHDELA has scored higher on state assessments than 25% of Ohio community schools. In 2023–24, the school’s Performance Index exceeded 25% of community schools statewide and 33% of Big Eight urban districts. OHDELA also ranked first among statewide e-schools for one-year Value-Added Math Growth Effect Size and ranked third for Overall Composite Growth Effect Size.
But data only tells part of the story.
Families choose OHDELA because the school meets students where they are and helps them move forward. Parents describe dramatic changes in confidence, engagement, and academic performance. One parent shared, “My child hated going to school last year… now they like to get up for school. They enjoy the classes. It is a big change and I love it.” Another noted how the online environment helped remove barriers caused by bullying, creating a healthier and more productive school experience.
These stories reflect what we see every day: when students are given the right environment, they can grow.
Ohio families are asking for more educational options, not fewer. Enrollment growth across statewide online schools reflects that demand. For many students, online learning is not a backup plan. It is the model that works.
