About Us
Inspiring Minds, Engaging Students, Transforming Education
At OHDELA, a K-12 online public school, we know that one size does not fit all, especially when it comes to education. At OHDELA, we want all children to have online schooling options that work best for them and their learning style. We want students to learn in their own way and to be prepared to achieve their goals after graduation. We hold our curriculum to Ohio’s learning standards to ensure that they are getting the most out of their education.
Who We Are
OHDELA (Ohio Distance and Electronic Learning Academy) is a tuition-free, non-sectarian, public, K-12 online charter school that creates a state-of-the-art educational experience using virtual schooling.
As a state-authorized school, we answer directly to the Ohio Council of Community Schools. The Ohio Council of Community Schools sponsors, oversees and monitors charter schools to ensure that they follow state and federal laws, policies and regulations. The OCCS is extremely invested in the progress of each school and confirms that each charter school is fiscally stable and academically prospering.
OHDELA is led by passionate individuals who are dedicated to education and have experience in both traditional, homeschool alternative, and online charter school environments. They work closely with our students, families and teachers to ensure OHDELA online charter school students are engaged and learning.
At OHDELA, we are unlike other online public schools and homeschool alternatives, students can engage with other students, take part in school-wide activities, receive one-on-one attention from teachers, and have access to the tools they need to excel.

Who We help
Advanced and Independent Students
OHDELA’s online charter school coursework has a specific pace to ensure that students are learning the proper skills and content per academic year. An advanced student may work ahead so long as he or she participates in mandatory live classes, completes all required coursework while demonstrating mastery in all required content.
Bullied Students
One out of every four students reports being bullied during the school year. For students who have experienced the intimidation or embarrassment of bullying, returning to traditional school can be difficult. Online education with OHDELA provides a new approach to learning — one without the fear of bullies. With home school programs, the focus is on learning, but there is also ample opportunity for students to socialize and meet new friends in a supervised and safe environment through live classes, live help sessions, state testing days and OHDELA sponsored events. At OHDELA, we work to ensure our students feel safe and secure within our learning community.
Special Education Students
At OHDELA, students who are on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) are paired with Intervention Specialists who are dedicated to working with families to ensure the goals, objectives and accommodations of the IEP are met. Also, we work with students and families to ensure that appropriate course selections are made based on the IEP and student abilities.
Struggling Students
For many reasons, school can be a struggle for students. By eliminating the crazy schedules and classroom distractions, online learning provides a home school alternative for students who are struggling. At OHDELA, students are able to review live class recording archives and can access curriculum 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in combination with attending live classes and live help sessions. These features, unique to OHDELA, allow students to stay on pace.
Students with Medical Conditions
Managing a student’s ongoing medical condition can be difficult, especially when attending a traditional school. The stress of falling behind in classes due to illness or doctor’s appointments can be overwhelming. Since OHDELA records all of its live classes, a student is able to catch up on what was covered in each live class at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. OHDELA’s live class recording archive allows virtual home school students who need more flexibility the opportunity to log in and access online content and recordings at any time of the day, any day of the week. The ability to access curriculum and live recording archives at any time allows OHDELA virtual home school students the flexibility to work within their scheduling needs while ensuring they can stay on pace to complete courses on time.
Traveling Students, Student Performers, Student Athletes
Whether your family travels for work or your student is involved in an activity that requires significant travel, OHDELA virtual school can meet your student’s educational needs. Even though your city or location changes, OHDELA online public school offers its students a consistent education.
The OHDELA Mission
Our mission is to offer students a rigorous education experience that blends innovative instruction delivered by highly qualified teachers and standards aligned curriculum delivered in an online setting enhanced by real world experiences and project based learning opportunities.
A front row seat to virtual education.
The OHDELA difference is a learning experience unlike any other. At OHDELA, students receive a high quality education that becomes a solid foundation for academic success and a lifetime of learning. At the same time, students have the ability to gain responsibility while enhancing their decision-making skills. And because interpersonal relationships are just as important to education as books and tests, we have created an interactive environment where students can make friends with their peers and even meet in-person through OHDELA field trips and family days.
Creating a learning environment that works best for the student.
Students can access class content 24/7. If a student is struggling, he or she can put in extra time or meet with a teacher during live help sessions to receive extra help on topics that are more challenging. Our teachers make it their top priority to get to know their students and equip them with resources that are tailored to their interests and needs.
OHDELA + Parents: Making a difference in and out of the virtual classroom.
OHDELA encourages parents to take an active role in their student’s education. We would like our parents and students to get to know our teaching staff. Our teachers look forward to getting to know parents too, so that everyone is working together to achieve the educational goals set for the student. Our excellent staff and faculty members are always available for questions and provide teacher tips for parents that can be used to help children through schoolwork subjects, questions and assignments.
OHDELA students can participate in the OHDELA community and enjoy time with their peers through OHDELA field trips and events. To stay up-to-date on what’s going on in our community, connect with us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
